Proximately above the village Blankenheim, in the nearly 900 years old castle Grafenberg, our youth hostel castle Blankenheim is located. A huge outdoor-area, cosy restrooms and thrilling programmes- here there`s lots of space and ideas for a varied stay. Also the extensive forests and the widespread nature reserve around the youth hostel are offering attractive opportunities for active leisure activities. Worthseeing are -among others- the tunnel of the zoological garden, built in the 15th century, and the Roman Villa of Blankenheim; counted among the most important monuments from Middle Ages and Roman Age in the Rhineland. Wanderers will start from the source of the river Ahr their excursions through the German-Belgium park of nature. The landscape of the Nordeifel is likely tailor-made for a cycle- and Mountainbike holiday. Several tremendous and even family-friendly cycle paths are reachable fast. Despite the quiet and close-to-nature site , the youth hostel has - due to its proximity to Cologne and Bonn- good transport connections.
Even in a medieval castle, you don`t have to renounce the comfort of a modern accommodation. All of the rooms are disposed with a comfortable and contemporary equipment. For families and groups, spacious multi- and single bedrooms are at disposal. Especially gladly families use the tender furnished family-apartments in the Bastionshaus. Due to the numerous programmes for schools, children, teens and groups, even the leisuretime feels like a real time journey into the Middle Ages. Also music groups will find in the medieval castle ideal and extraordinary conditions for their rehearsals. As a host for creative meetings, our house is your partner for seminars, interesting workshops, conferences and thrilling team-events. Premises at diverse sizes, most modern conference technique and a tremendous acoustic are guaranteeing successful learning- and rehearsing experiences.
Our house was certified by the ADFC ( Allgemeiner Deutscher Fahrrad-Club e.V.) as a cycle-friendly accommodation.

Apartments in the "Bastion House" Below the main building of the castle, framed by a bastioned tower and castle wall, lies the "Bastion House", with stunning views of the lake and the town of Blankenheim.
